Schtick: Skiving starts today

The kids have just left and i'm off 'skiving' at the circus soon.

This morning kindergarten schoolkids came to pay the circus a visit.  I was assigned to print out copies of some write-up on Matisse's background, get ready drawing materials on a4 drawing boards equipped with pencils and get ready the guest workshop for the kids to make paper and then attend to the kids and help with transporting the paper they've made over to another table for drying!  I hate to do these tasks coz i am not here to do these.  These are effortless for girly girls and i am not one.  GIMME MORE HARD WORK PLEEEEASE!!!

Here are some pics i took of the paper making session with the kids and Lawa-man and jeannip today using my good and so ever useful blappy!
first, explaination about what paper
is made of by jeannip.  Here's them
crowding around paper pulp in a
bowl and feeling it.

then she'd tell and show them
how a cotton plant looks like

some kids at the table with
the paper they've made.

Wanita paid a visit! it was
breaktime for her...

I managed to catch mr Lawa-man
teaching the kids how to make
paper using the mould and deckle.

many kids stop here and wave
their hands around after this
step- removing the deckle from
the mould.  Too muck eeky pulp
on their arms and they just can't
wait to get them washed.

Lawa-man told me he was camera-shy.

Mr Ori came by whilst i was trying to snap
Lawa-man's pic and i pointed blappy's
eye at him and snapped too(cute hor)

I'm really happy to be away from guarding the glass tank with Matisse's prints worth $6.2 million... I mean i sit there, and just sit there and WASTE my time away whilst others are having fun doing hard labour.  i wanna do hard labour and i wanna do it now! and so i'm off skiving, straying away from my desk, away from guarding the prints... I don't even care if someone walks away with one of his prints from the Odelisque series or dancers series or miscellaneous portraits series... I WANNA OBSERVE AND LEARN PRINTMAKING!!!!  and NOW!

i am finally plucking up the courage to leave the desk and go wandering about the workshop to seek hard labour if there's any. the past few days i didn't dare to coz i tot my responsibility was just to graphic design and guard the place. but what the heck.  i'm not here to do all these.  i wanna learn man.

Schtick: Tour around the place where i sit at.

blappy is here to accompany me today at work! yayness.
behind me is this photo gallery
of Matisse's photos, his life and all
guy beside me looking at the wall
with a write-up about his works

the view in front of me.
 i guard this place.

whoohoohoo the corridor with
the odelisque prints and over
seeing them is the master himself

but troublesome la today... had to go online to retrieve the file i was working on pathetically on powerpoint coz the dell lappy didnt have any design softwares... but i didnt have the password to log in, then the admin lady didnt wanna give me the password or help me log in, must call up some guy to ask for permission, then she was like 'why do you need the internet... why do you need to use the laptop...' then the other told her i was graphic designing too and she was like 'oh' and reluctantly came out...
then, i needed to turn the other lappy on because i couldnt access hotmail on blappy and it needed a login password, so i had to go over to the office again to ask her for help and finally after like 20min, she came by to arrange the stuff at the counter
and totally forgot about helping me, so i was like sketching whilst waiting...........................................................and she said this 'so how's it going... have they given you enough work to keep you busy yet...' and i had to remind her again to help me login... IF NOT I CANNOT DO WORK MAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HAIYAH.

I hate it when people stereotype or look down on interns or a new employee.  I mean, hey, be friendly la, don't be rude la... or proud... or what la... see la make me pisssed use so much of singlish in this blog... waliew oiye....

Then when visitor came and wanted a copy of the Matisse invite, i was attending to her and she just came by and "CAN I HELP YOU. YES CAN I HELP YOU." and told her that they had no more... then the other staff  came an hour later bringing a whole stack to keep in the cupboard behind me..............  Then another guy came by and wanted to enquire about workshops on printmaking so i went to ask if he could talk to anyone and she just said , " JUST GIVE HIM JEANNIP's NAME CARD, DONT NEED TO TELL HIM TOO MUCH.  JUST GIVE IT TO HIM."  then the other staff was so nice got up and talk to him personally unlike that weoihapwerawueroia. LIKE STUPIT RITE WAD kiND OF CUSTOMER SERVICE MAN...

i managed to only transfer these over to photoshop
whilst waiting for jeannip to come by to take a look
at it.  before that i was working on powerpoint,
which sux so badly.  the dell lappy didnt have
any design software at all, so i brought along
blappy for this purpose.  Initially i was told to
just come up with the layout of the brochure.
Now that she's here, she told me to do away with
the crumpled paper effect( i did that for fun
because i was pissed with workin on powerpoint )

And when i transferred the file over to blappy,
all the colours were off..... following pics are
the drafts i did and sent to her for viewing. the
colours are so not real.  the red ought to be redder.
my drafts.  i sent it to her before i knocked off
and she didnt read it till this morning.

After their work today, everyone came to visit me up in the glass tank. After work at my place, its like a gossip session meeting place and i like it alot.  i mean i've been alone for so long and it's really nice to have people you are closer to come by and talk.  By then i had already called it a day with the design stuff and decided to take a break(they in workshop start from 8am-5pm while me in glass tank start from 9am-6pm).

Sminthaye asked us to join Baybeats this year to help out with the silk screen booth and WOOHOO I AM IN!!! i realised that i need to take part in more events and competitions in order to survive in this art industry.  What's more is that we get to KOPE the list of items to be bought just for the event hehehehehehehehehe means free squeegees free inks free MESHHESEHAIRJWERJPOJ  lalila i am in... sure thing man.

During the walk towards the mrt station both sonny and wanita were MAKING ME JEALOUS by telling me what hard labour they did today whilst i froze in the glass tank... It was great seeing them all hyped up about work.  sigh for me. I WANNA BE THERE I WANNA BE THERE I WANNA BE THERE!

Vociferate: The CIRCUS interview!

i am gonna work for the circus! i hope!

Schtick: red book for sonny

i've just finished creating sonny's birthday prezzie(b-lated) right after i created my labels for my portfolio

Here's another set of nuts and bolts i got from
daiso to secure my portfolio.  they look better
and fit even better than the expensive ones i
got from bugis yesterday.  i should have been
more patient and not rushed into finishing
my portfolio.

here's my bandaged finger. i kept hitting into
things and always let out squeals.  i don;t
wanna sound like some girly girl so i just had to
do this.  i don't normally use plasters of badages
you know... i hate it in fact, it leaves your wound
and the skin round it wrinkly... hehehe
anyway i managed to bind the book with it so
no handicap here.

Mada jr came for a visit

attended this cute lady's exhibitio
i'll get there sometime in 60 years

and we saw iome in the crowd.  we tried
to call her but she couldn't recognise us
i guess

i felt that the way the works were displayed
did not effectively do justice to them.

then we took a bus down to stpi to catch
prints by matisse.

the crowd wad quite crazily filled with more
french men and women than singaporeans.

we left stpi and walked along the riverside
towards the mrt.  Wanita's always been
fascinated by these trees along it. she said
it was dangerous and we needed to know
in case someone fallsinto it and dies...

after i took these photos, i realised
that i have always been fascinated
with movement.  i love doing these
slow shutter photography and
panning at the same time.

wanita on bridge, walking faster than i
(unusual ah, maybe she's just bored of
waiting for me snapping away at stuff)
a couple of people were flying their remote
control kites and they look like orbs or
spiritual entities bring captured here.
wanita always playing at weird spots
i had to try too, but i sure look weird

my bleeding hand-what i have sacrificed for my portfolio making process. maybe it's a sign that i shouldn't have stayed after 6 today...
but what the hey! i managed to finish making my portfolio yayness! and i managed to produce blood prints !!!

Schtick: Bookbinding the kid stuff

Whoever said that witches as messy as me can't be neat will have to throw puke all over their faces and eat shit, for the witchiest tomatogirl is here presenting a neatly bound journal made from unwanted/thrashed kids stuff!

Yes, i am finally done with it after a day's long hard work of continuous sewing. Total Yayness. Here are some excerpts from my new journal.

S

Shame shame to all those of you out there who throw away paper- be it unused, used, with a dash, with a coffee stain, with illustrations or "ugly" sketches on them... SHAME ON YOU. These "scaps" can actually be turned into treasure. And if you are lazy to do so, you can ask me to do it, or even better, donate your "junk" to me. I AM SERIOUS.

I look at the amount of books i can get from all these, i am pretty much amazed and i imagine people out there just discarding their paper... it really pains me to even think of it. so please. save the environment. turn ur trash into works of many uses.
