Vociferate: Waking up late

I rose this morning from 1 1/2 hrs of sleep(do you even call this sleep? ) to Wanita's voice saying, "Mada's here!"

Gosh, i actually overslept by about half an hour... in Printingland and Mada had arrived already, placed her stuff on the lightbox and... gosh...she must have seen me sleepin' pathetically behind.

It's been days since i've gone back to Hell.  Wish i don't ever have to go and just live in Printing&Studioland, but that will never happen.

I've been trying to finish compiling works for my portfolio, and at the same time helping my friends- the W and the O(more like helping them most of the time rather than concentrating on portfolio, dont even know which's my interview day...)

And it's been exactly two weeks since my assessment and yet, I don't seem to be resting properly.  I go back to Hell on alternate days(excluding the past 3 days) and  reach past twelve midnight(and "turn into punpkin") then sleep for less than 4 hours to wake again to rush to the Utopia and hopefully reach by 9am and start work or helping from then on .........

The days before and after assessment went by like this.  This results in memory disfunct, whereby we are unable to think straight, nor being able to recall dates and even confuse events that happened over the period of a day to 3 weeks ago.  Some can't even remember how to convert mm to cm, use spray mount to fix charcoal drawings, hallucinate till hougang chalet checks the individual in...

There's so much i want to update yet so little time.  I'll take quite a while so if you are reading my Tomautofolia, then please be patient, and maybe check past entries in case i do add in a past entry recently.

Just got back from a stroll to bugis and back, having drunk coffee ice blended(yummy my first time) from the $1 bubble tea stall in The Burlington, then got batteries and got a gorgeous turtleneck top at $1.90 from ABC bargain store(our favourite), a watermelon at $1 from a stall nearby, walked thru the street and checked out beautifyl dresses the i wanna get later, sat down and ate the cheap yong tau foo(8 items at $2) and strolled back to Utopia feeling warm and ready to start work.

Been stalling cikgu Bedah for a really long time.  She needs help with jappy book binding.  I can't say that i know the proper way of doing it since i sort of learnt it myself but it works pretty well.  Tml would be ok.

i'm sorry for the delay.  and i am sorry to all those peeps i owe birthday presents to(Onedayolder, Littlegillian, GuylikesPaulie...) and i am sorry too to Wanita for getting irrtated during the night and also for stalling the binding of our book.  There's just so much to do.  i am sorry too to grandad for putting work above u even though my critical stuffs are over. so many apologies -if only i had 2 weeks in a day.

This was what we did this morning from 12am onwards.

Schtick: Dark Room Visit!

Vociferate: Working in bathtub in a carpark

what is your take on art students resorting to sneaking back into studios, playing hide-and-seek with the guards, working right outside the studios and then, finally working in the carpark after school closes its doors and forced to pack up just before the school's management arrives, as well as turn off the lights so nothing is suspicious.

Devoir: Good Morning, Papers!

i cant believe how tired i am still.  Its as if the few hours of rest i got at night didn't pay off.  I always sinfully nap on the train to and fro school to find that i have missed a stop or two, or wakey between stations trying to figure out where i was and if it was time to alight.

today, lefty aches.  the sore hurt a little and made left nosty run.  i can't believe it.  even with sleep its like that.  i can go on and on doing work but my eyes.  i don't even wear contacts anymore.

anyway, cikgu bedah helped keep my papers , so THANkew cikgu!  i didn't think she'd help coz she's so busy with her assessment and all. I took a look at them and at the same time dried them on the small rack.  They don't look that bad wad... hehe.

Left my blappy here for cikgu to use.  it takes forever to wait for the net to load.  therefore i was unable to send Mada2 my resume for a post as intern at STPI.  STPI!!! a few weeks also good... just tell THEM i am at school lor...

Anyways, i left in a rush last night.  Left school effectively at about 11.55 pm after blending another batch of papers of better quality.  My paper pulp...hehehe... they look like PUKE!  hehehe.  but I LIKE!!! Gonna call them my abject papers.

Left HELL with dead dried flowers from Adam, as well as a bag full of hair i cut a few days back.  Because i am gonna make ABJECT PAPERS!!! YEAH MAN!!!

you see, abject* is the state of being cast off. the papers already look like vomit, representing expulsion and the hair i cut represents a sense of release from the stress n anger my environment has caused as well as my trichotillomania. adam's flowers are also a representation of a break and release. and with these waste i gather n preserve the experiences as a whole.

The papers have been pressed and i'm gonna release them nowwww!!! YEAH

*THE ABJECT, abjection (Kristeva): Our reaction (horror, vomit) to a threatened breakdown in meaning caused by the loss of the distinction between subject and object or between self and other. The primary example is the corpse (which traumatically reminds us of our own materiality); however, other items can elicit the same reaction: the open wound, shit, sewage, even a particularly immoral crime (e.g. Auschwitz). Kristeva posits that abjection is something that we must experience in our psychosexual development before entering into the mirror stage, that is, the establishment of such boundaries as self and other or human and animal. See the Kristeva module on the abject.Kristeva also associates the abject with the maternal since the establishment of the boundary between self and other marks our movement out of the chora.
http://www.cla.purdue.edu/English/theory/psychoanalysis/definitions/abject.html

*Julia Kristeva’s famous essay Powers of Horror conceptualises the abject as that which “disturbs identity, system, order. What does not respect borders, positions, rules. The in-between, the ambiguous” (4).

Vociferate: horrifying studioland lanes

i took a horrifying walk down studioland's revamped lanes whilst taking a break off paper making.  my gosh.

Vociferate:Thinking about level 2 already

Schtick: Making Paper today! finally.

i've had my papers torn up days and days ... no, weeks ago and finally, today's the day!  i'm gonna start blending and then making PAPER !!! it starts now.

just now degree students in Bachelors'land were having assessments and the lights kept going on and off since it started.  It was annoying and many couldn't do work.

Schtick: Helping in small ways

Been helping since last night and i love helping people- the right people in need of course, not those who wanna pay you to do stuff for them(yar iakiak is like that, which sux and makes iak2 a rainbow human)

I helped run errands, cleaned the sink, helped to paint, helped document stuffs............................
and at 5 am Maney decided to paint her floor coz i told her presentation is everything, and there were gross bits of newspaper, stickers and paint of all colours stuck on the floor of her space.
We were afraid there wouldn't be enough white paint to cover the whole floor, thus the paranoia lead to me photoshopping the ideal ground colour for easy decision makin....

....which lead to the mixing of white and pale yellow paints.
and i am turning in now whilst waiting for paint to dry.  Any-Mesh says the first layer would take about an hour to dry so i'll wakey abt 7.

Ferret out : What is Enigma

I was glancing through SURREALISM The Dream of Revolution by Richard Leslie and chanced upon interesting titles of surreal masterpieces like The Eye Like a Strange Balloon Mounts Toward Infinity
, Garden of Earthly delights, "Black Monkey" Mask,  The childhood of Oedipus,

 The Promenades of Euclid
 ,
and etc.

Mada2 loved the fur cup entitled, Object for its simplicity.

Then i chanced upon the word gelatin silver print and checked it out too.  I've came across this word many times before but never had the time to check it up.
Woman-Amphora
BRASSAI, 1935
gelatin silver print

Gelatin silver prints are the most usual means of making black and white prints from negatives. They are papers coated with a layer of gelatin which contains light sensitive silver salts. They were developed in the 1870's and by 1895 had generally replaced albumen prints because they were more stable, did not turn yellow and were simpler to produce. Gelatin silver prints remain the standard black and white print type.

i have been using the word enigma for years... the band, the cartoon hero, in a phrase... but DONT KNOW HOW TO EXPLAIN IT so i checked it up as well .

noun

Anything that arouses curiosity or perplexes because it is unexplained, inexplicable, or secret:
  1. One that is puzzling, ambiguous, or inexplicable.
  2. A perplexing speech or text; a riddle.

ok i am tired.  wanita and tomato turning in now.

This is my class.

We collected our sketchbooks and portfolios today.
The class seems quite dead and some have already left after collection. What's the hurry man... i stay in school till forever you know so i don't know what's your rush.

This is my loot.

Many people were quite shocked at what i submitted the day before.  Because i packaged everything which is in the most unconventional way of slotting printed matter into folders...

This is the crowd whilst waiting for the doors to open.

Yes, this is Com D, not a Bull Race.

This is what assessments are like.

We place our loot on the tables and just leave.  After we leave, lecturers will go round and check our stuffs out.

And finally, these are my lecturers(two outta dunno, 8 ?!)
